Great looking book! I hope you put out a book someday only about creating your own cocktails. There isn’t enough content about that specific topic.
Delivery took a little longer than expected, but the books were so amazing that it was well worth the wait.
Hi Lea, we're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the books! Thanks for your patience with the delivery. We noted in the product description that this was a presale product expected to ship in May, 2026, and it ultimately did ship within the specified timeframe.
Many thanks Matt & Carrie, and Alexandre. I have worked across the Caribbean over the last 25 years (as a doctor), and my wife is Jamaican. And I passed through New Orleans more than 50 years ago. I developed a taste for both sipping and mixing rums and have been looking for these books for many years, even before you wrote them. I live in the UK and the reduced shipping costs have enabled me to buy these gems, which will give me pleasure for years to come.
As a career beverage alcohol professional, I could not be more delighted with this on my reference shelf. Any distiller or aspiring rum blender would be remiss not to have a copy.
It did fall off my dining room table and frighten a dog, but that's gravity's fault more than the (massive) book's.
Minimalist Tiki accomplishes what it sets out to do in an enjoyable, light read. The information is clearly presented, the pictures are great, as are the recipes. It's been a great introduction into the world of Tiki for me.
The Tiki Bundle price and UK shipping meant that I was able to buy it. Having been told about both books by a friend, I was keen to purchase.
Minimalist Tiki: A great book, very informative Rum and Cocktail equipment pages, and a lot of refreshing recipes among other great stuff, means this book will be frequently off the shelf and not warming it up. Can’t wait to try some of the cocktails in it. It’s not just another recipe book, Tiki drinks are explained and explored, a hard mouthwatering read without a Concoction filled Tiki mug of you choice, in your hand!
Polynesiacs is full of excellent images of Home bars and immersive stories for each, I’m 3 bars in and feeling tipsy.
The description of each and its conception and build draw you in to study the pictures, check out the decor and wonder what it would be like to be sitting in them, that drink in hand. Appropriate music optional.
Both books are of a lovely quality.
The Wonk Customer Service is unbelievably good, Wonk care about their readers and their books.
Cheers Wonk!
Modern Caribbean Rum is beautifully laid out, well organized, with an approachable writing style that drew me right in. I like how the subject is presented from the simple beginnings to a comprehensive tome that leaves you wanting for nothing--except a lovely rum cocktail. Or two.
I first encountered Wonk Press through Matt Pietrick and Carrie Smith's fantastic "Minimalist Tiki" book, breaking down the complexities and "secret" ingredients into the building blocks. "Modern Caribbean Rum" and "Polynesiacs" were the natural next steps, and now they've released Justin Wojslaw's "Coconuts & Carnage". WOW! So many incredible recipes packed into such a small book. I've made 4 drinks already, and they're all so balanced, nuanced and delicious. Can't wait to make more, and highly recommend!
This book holds a place on my shelf with the best of them. I love tiki and have mixed up most everything in the Beachbum Berry's as well as the Smugglers Cove publications. Excellent original tiki cocktails that are relatively easy to make.
This beautiful book complete with pictures and easy to execute recipes is a must have staple for any Home Tiki Bar. Lot of diversity using easily accessible ingredients. Other Tiki cocktail books will inevitably include some outlandish, hard to find ingredients, but not this one! Lots of favorites in this as well as some unique ones. Highly recommended.
I mean, it is how every cocktail book should be laid out. 5 drinks in and not a stinker, yet. Justin is skilled at his craft.
This is the best book I’ve ever bought on this subject wonderful pictures, wonderful paper I don’t know what else to say about it. Excellent job and the pages are all booked like they’re supposed to keep the good work up or whatever else you publish doing a fine job.
This book is encyclopedic in knowledge, but is so well written I couldn't put it down when I first got it. Must read for anyone interested in rum.
Really a wonderful book with great pictures. Really explains everything dies. Did a phenomenal job.
Excellent book full of amazing recipes! Have made four cocktails and each one was so good! Mahalo!
It's a WonkPress book, what's not to love. If it's about Rum, it's in this museum quality book.
Great content, inspiring recipes, beautiful layout. I wouldn’t mind more “background insights” and other info, but on the other hand the recipes are great as they are.
It's a no-nonsense approach that dives directly into the recipes. I like that most recipes don't need super arcane ingredients but are doable on a thursday night after work.
I hope Wonk Press will do more books like this, maybe with Jason Alexander.
The book is hands down presented wonderfully. The pics are perfectly balanced without color saturation. The recipes are unparalleled and the binding is flawless for a paperback book. My only suggestion is to offer a hardback edition. I would buy the hardback as a library edition and use the paperback in the bar.
Great addition to my cocktail book collection.
A wonderful look into the tiki world. Fantastic and creative cocktails
